Toronto Hosts Spectacular 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend: A New Format and Star-Studded Line-Up
The weekend of February 1-3 in Toronto will be an extraordinary hockey celebration, where the stars of the NHL gather at the Scotiabank Arena to showcase their skills on the ice. But 2024 is not like previous years - we're talking about a completely new format for the All-Star weekend!
The action kicks off on Thursday with NHL All-Star Thursday. Here, celebrities will team up with team captains to select players for the four All-Star teams. Imagine eleven ice-cool players per team, including nine outfield players and two goalies, ready for an unforgettable match. And talk about nostalgia! The NHL Alumni Association will honor the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs - the last Leafs team to lift the Stanley Cup. On the women's side, excitement awaits as the Professional Women’s Hockey League plays a 3-on-3 match.
Saturday, February 3, features the All-Star game. But the day before, on February 2, the NHL All-Star Skills event takes place. Here, 12 star players have the chance to compete in eight different events. And the one who accumulates the most points? They take home a cool million dollars! Each player participates in at least four of six events, earning points for their performances. We're talking everything from the fastest skater to precision shooting and puck handling. The top eight advance to the seventh event, the Honda NHL Shootout, where players challenge any goalie in a penalty shootout. Finally, the eighth event, the Pepsi NHL Obstacle Course, awaits, where points can be doubled.
Now, for the players who will light up the weekend. Here is the list of those participating in the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend, including how many times they have participated before:
