Tip: Two of the league's strongest teams clash in TD Garden!

Two of the season's biggest giants clash on Tuesday night. The Boston Bruins continue their strong performance this season and currently top the Eastern Conference with 65 points. In the Western Conference, we find the Winnipeg Jets in second place, and the Canadian team has shown that they are a real force to be reckoned with this season. An epic match is expected, and I have a betting idea for the game!

Two Teams That Impress

It's hard not to be thoroughly impressed by both teams. We knew the Boston Bruins had a team that could stay at the top of the table, as they showed last season. However, it was unclear how they would fare without Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, who contributed a lot during last year's record season. This has not stopped Boston from continuing to be one of the league's most solid teams. Above all else, there is a reliable playing philosophy to lean on, and star players like David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and Charlie McAvoy continue to show a powerful offense. The Bruins are tough to score against, and with two world-class goalkeepers, they are definitely a team to reckon with in the playoffs. The team also brings good form into the match against the Jets. Recently, they swept away the Montreal Canadiens with a whopping 9-4 (!) victory, and before that, they defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-2. At home, Boston is incredibly tough to beat, with only three teams having succeeded during regular time in TD Garden.

A team with the potential to join the ranks of those who can defeat Boston is one of this year's biggest surprises, the Winnipeg Jets. I have long talked and written about the Jets as a team with the potential to challenge higher up in the table, but after many seasons of falling short, I had dismissed the thought for this season, how wrong I was. The Jets have been impressively formidable. No other team has let in fewer goals, and with a vigorous offense, they have been able to challenge for top positions this season. Acquiring Gabriel Vilardi and Alex Iafallo has worked out very well in broadening the team further, and with Hellebuyck as the league's sharpest goalkeeper right now, few teams have managed to defeat the Winnipeg Jets. However, they will have to do without Mark Scheifele, who will be missed in the match against the Boston Bruins.

Goalkeepers' Battle

On the ice, we will have the privilege of seeing some of the league's best goalkeepers compete. Connor Hellebuyck, who guards the Jets' goal, has been the league's giant this season and tops virtually all tables. It seems likely that he will be the favorite for the Vezina Trophy, and I find it hard to see anyone other than Thatcher Demko or perhaps Jeremy Swayman challenging him for the title. The Boston Bruins have the luxury of having two goalkeepers not far behind Hellebuyck. Especially, Jeremy Swayman in the Bruins' goal has been almost as good as Hellebuyck, and together with Linus Ullmark, Boston has a historically strong pair of goalkeepers, both of whom can be ranked as top 10 goalkeepers in the league, a privilege very few have had in NHL history. Therefore, it is not surprising that the match is expected to be low-scoring, but that does not stop me from having a betting idea for the game!

Betting Tips and Conclusion

Two really good teams are clashing in TD Garden. Both have been positive surprises for me. Like the bookmakers, I expect a relatively tight match between two teams that will have a lot of respect for each other. However, I find it hard to ignore just how incredibly stable the Boston Bruins are when they play at home in front of their fans. And with the Winnipeg Jets missing key center Mark Scheifele, it's Boston's match to lose. Hellebuyck is not easy to outsmart, but neither are Swayman or Ullmark. Boston's recent performances have been a show of strength, and Winnipeg will need to reach a very high level to leave with additional points.
