Tip: Dallas with good opportunities to clinch an advancement!
Dallas Stars visits T-Mobile Arena and Vegas Golden Knights at Friday night at 08:00 PM ET. That is the first game in the Western Conference final, and is this text I am going to predict the outcome of the series.
Vegas Golden Knights-Dallas Stars
Dallas Stars - Vegas Golden Knights
Sunday 23:30, NHL
Home ice advantage for the Golden Knights
The home ice advantage is in favor for the Golden Knights as four of the seven games of the series is going to be played here in Nevada and in T-Mobile Arena and the remaining three will be played in American Airlines Center, which is the home venue for the Dallas Stars. The home ice advantage can be an important factor in this series, as the Golden Knights have been strong at home with four victories in the six games that has been played in T-Mobile Arena during the playoffs. At the other hand, the Stars have not been badly at away games as they have won three and lost three so far in the playoffs. How big will the home ice advantage be in this series? The Golden Knights start with two games at home – can Dallas steal one game in Nevada before heading home to Texas?
Dallas with a good depth and less trouble
Both Vegas and Dallas have good depth in their rosters, and it is no surprises that these two teams have reached the Conference finals. However, I think that Dallas depth in their roster keeps very good quality with four lines that contribute in the offense and is hard working over the whole ice. In addition to that, the back pairings of the Dallas Stars keep good quality and Miro Hieskanen has been a dominant defenseman so far in the playoffs with a lot of time on ice and with nine points scored in the thirteen games. Compared to the Golden Knights, that also have a very good depth in the roster, I think that Dallas have a better goaltending side as Jake Oettinger is a stable goaltender with his third consecutive season with over 0.910 in save percentage. At the other hand, the Golden Knights have some trouble with both Logan Thompson and Laurent Brossoit questionable. Adin Hill has been stable in the five playoffs game he has played this season, but in the long run; I think that Jake Oettinger is a better goaltender by far.
Regular season
Vegas Golden Knights collected three more points than Dallas Stars in the regular season, but I think that Dallas did a great regular season and the statistics shows the same. During the regular season, Dallas created more goal scoring chances than Vegas and also scored more goals. Defensively, the Stars was one of the best teams as just Boston and Carolina conceded fewer goals and just eight teams conceded a bigger amount of goal scoring chances. When these two teams have met in the regular season, the favor is in Dallas hands. The three games that these two teams have played against each other this season has ended up in this way:
- Vegas Golden Knights-Dallas Stars 0-4
- Vegas Golden Knights-Dallas Stars 2-3 after penalties
- Dallas Stars-Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 after penalties
Conclusion and prediction
The first game in the Western Conference final is about to take place tonight as Vegas and Dallas meet in Nevada. Which team will make it to the Stanley Cup Finals? My short answer on that question is: Dallas. Despite the home ice advantage for Vegas, I think that Dallas have very good opportunities to clinch a final spot as they have a very good roster depth and have, in my opinion, a better goaltending side with Jake Oettinger meanwhile the Golden Knights have bigger questions in that part. During the regular season, the Stars did great both offensively and defensively and compared to Vegas, the Stars was better in both parts statistically. I think that Dallas is being underrated by the bookmakers here as they are valued to underdogs.
Based on the conditions, I think that Dallas have good opportunities to clinch an advancement and when the odds is higher than -100 I think that we have some good value to grab. My betting tip for this series is therefore:
